The role of an optometric technician is crucial for maintaining an efficient patient flow and supporting the optometrist through pre-screening and testing. This position is ideal for individuals eager to make a difference in patients' lives, and no prior optical experience or certification is necessary as we provide comprehensive training. Your Sundays Are Free! What You’ll Do: Deliver high-quality patient care. Maintain a professional atmosphere in the office and pretest area. Learn ocular terminology and diseases, along with their abbreviations. Clearly explain preliminary examinations to patients. Complete paperwork and perform preliminary testing before the optometrist takes over. Encourage appropriate patients to participate in visual field tests and retinal screenings. Conduct exam pre-screenings effectively. Review patient information carefully, identifying any specific needs, and communicate with the optician or doctor as needed. Complete referral forms and related follow-up paperwork as necessary. Keep patient records accurate and organized. Ensure the proper maintenance of both doctor’s and pre-test equipment. Order and manage supplies as directed. Adhere to all store and corporate policies and procedures. Engage in mandatory team meetings to stay updated on corporate policies and initiatives. Are You the Right Fit? Prior retail or optical experience is a plus but not required. Strong customer service skills. Ability to quickly learn optical information. Strong instructional capabilities with clear communication. Effective interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational abilities. Detail-oriented and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
