Central Expressway, Dallas, TX 75243JOB TITLE: Ophthalmic AssistantPOSITION SUMMARY:The role of the Ophthalmic Assistant is to work relatively close with the clinic physicians to perform basic, advanced, and complex functions. The Ophthalmic Assistant will document the patient’s medical record and to input any recommended treatment and/or procedures that may be performed by the doctorESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:Obtains accurate patient historyPerforms lensometryPerforms diagnostic testing of the eye while having a basic understanding and knowledge of these tests such as HVF, HRT, IOLmaster, biopen and basic fundus photographyObtains accurate visual acuities with basic optics understandingDemonstrates ability to perform functional ocular measurements of the eye such as color vision testing, B AT testing, schirmer tests and Amsler grid testsDemonstrates ability to perform accurate and repeat able refractometryAdministers topical ophthalmic medicationsPerforms accurate tonometry by tonopen or applanationMaintains and sterilizes surgical instructionsAssists physicians with the instillation of punctual plugsVerbalizes post operative instructions in a clear and professional manner to patients for any procedure performed at Key-Whitman Eye CenterUnderstanding basic ocular pharmacology; names of meds and their usesMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES):Minimum 1 Year Medical/Ophthalmic Scribe experience preferredHigh School Diploma or GEDSome college coursework or Associates degree preferredJCAHPO certification preferredCPR preferredStrong communication and interpersonal skillAble to think quickly and be attentiveBe able to work in a fast paced, team environmentCommunicate effectively with patients, physicians and staff membersMust demonstrate commitment to ongoing educations and uphold to the highest ethical principles of maintaining confidentialityProficient in EMR and computer literacyWell organized and attentive to detailProficiency in a second language highly desirableHIPAA knowledge and complianceBenefits:Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insuranceHealth Savings Account with an employer contributionLife InsurancePTO401(k) retirement plan with a company matchAnd more!
