Overview
GovCIO is actively seeking multiple Operating Systems Analysts to join our team supporting a vital customer, USPS' Network and Compute Technology (NCT) group. The NCT plays a crucial role in enhancing the postal network by implementing advanced cybersecurity measures, managing extensive network connections, and overseeing a vast data center infrastructure.
This position is designed for those who are ready to contribute to a fully remote environment, allowing flexibility and work-life balance.
Shift Work Hours: Candidates must be open to shift work or indicate their highly preferred shifts.
Group 2 - covering 3 shifts with THUR/FRI off
1st shift: 7 AM - 3:30 PM
2nd shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM
3rd shift: 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM
Responsibilities
Provide exemplary day-to-day support for various server operating systems, including Unix, Linux, and Windows, offering both on-site and remote administration.
Assist with middle-tier application deployment, including management of web servers, containers, messaging technologies, cloud services, and automation tools.
Manage incident response in line with USPS procedures and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Lead incident response and maintenance efforts for distributed server, database, and middleware environments.
Develop capacity and growth plans to sustain application environment needs.
Implement proactive problem detection measures and disaster recovery plans.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to manage projects effectively.
Analyze and resolve intricate hardware and software issues.
Engage with the USPS development community for software testing and implementation.
Create and maintain necessary documentation for server deployments and troubleshooting.
Track inventory and generate reports on system status and project milestones.
Provide training and assistance to users and administrators.
Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and a robust experience of 15+ years in relevant fields.
Required Skills and Experience
Specialized knowledge in one or more areas such as Unix/Linux or Windows Server administration.
Strong analytical skills for problem-solving in large, complex environments.
Experience with middle-tier technologies including but not limited to Apache Tomcat, Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud platforms.
US Citizenship or Permanent Residency for obtaining Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Experience
Previous experience with the United States Postal Service or an active USPS Public Trust.
Proficiency in Oracle RDBMS products and services.
Familiarity with database technologies such as PostgreSQL and NoSQL.
