Job Overview:
Provides basic, direct patient care, taking into account specific needs as related to patient's age. Assumes responsibility for care of patients and functions as a member of the health care team, taking direction and guidance from Registered Nurse. All care is provided in compliance with and according to department policy/procedure and Standards of Care.
Qualifications:
Required:
* High School Diploma * BLS Certification through American Heart Association only * Ability to read, write, and speak English * Effective communication skills and basic math skills * Successful completion of all Orientation Programs
Preferred:
* Previous Nursing Assistant experience and/or successful completion of two Registered Nurse accredited clinical courses and/or completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant program
Certifications and Licenses:
* BLS certification through American Heart Association
Scheduling Requirements:
* Evenings 3:00PM - 11:00PM * Every other weekend required, schedule during the week will vary depending on department needs * Part-Time (22.5 hrs) * Mandatory Orientation
Essential Functions:
* Participates in assessment of patient needs and communication with the health care team * Participates in staff, patient and/or family education to a degree consistent with personal knowledge base * Participates in unit Quality Improvement activities * Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care
