Montessori Assistant Teacher

The Campus Laboratory School of Carlow University is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and collaborative individual to serve as a Montessori Assistant in one of our multi-age Montessori classrooms. The Assistant will work closely with the lead teacher to support the implementation of authentic Montessori education, foster a nurturing environment, and help ensure the social, emotional, and academic development of all students. Essential Functions: Support the Lead Teacher in maintaining a peaceful, prepared, and engaging Montessori classroom environment. Assist students with independent and group activities in accordance with Montessori methods and philosophy. Observe student behaviors and development; share observations with the Lead Teacher to guide individual support.
Help with classroom organization, material preparation, and maintaining cleanliness and order.
Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and dismissal as needed.
Foster respectful and positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
Promote the school’s mission and values, including inclusion, curiosity, and respect for the individual child. Participate in staff meetings and ongoing professional development opportunities.
Follow all school safety policies and procedures, including those related to health and child welfare.
Non-essential Functions: Assisting in the preparation or cleanup of snacks and classroom events
Supporting enrichment activities as needed
Participating in marketing or school event planning (e.g., open houses, family engagement nights)
Creating bulletin boards or other visual displays
Providing occasional support in other classrooms when coverage is needed
Minimum Education Level Required: Associates or Bachelor's degree in education or a related field
Minimum Related Experience Required: Prior experience working with children in a school or early childhood setting strongly preferred.
Familiarity with or willingness to learn Montessori philosophy and practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated patience, flexibility, and a nurturing demeanor. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team.
