About the Role:
The Mental Health Technician (MHT) is an integral member of the treatment team, functioning as the primary conduit between patient and staff, working to ensure the implementation and integration of the person-centered treatment plan.
Under the immediate supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer, the MHT is responsible for monitoring, observing, and reporting client activities while providing structure and support of the clinical person-centered treatment plan.

Job Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Previous psychiatric and/or nursing assistant experience preferred.
An ability to learn quickly, multi-task, and utilize effective communication skills, including both telephone and
in-person.
Positive demeanor and clear understanding of professional boundaries with patients
Ability to follow directives explicitly, adhere to facility policies, provide patient-driven customer service, and
exercise time management skills.
Completion of CPR and HWC within first 30 days of employment.
Schedule flexibility, holiday, and weekend rotation are REQUIRED.
Must hold a valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
Key Responsibilities: Encourages patients attend groups and participate in treatment programs
Monitors and assists clients when they're not in treatment programs
Performs patient intake including screens and body searches
Monitors compliance with hospital rules
Assist patients with telephone use per policy
Accompanies patients during smoke and outside breaks at all times
Audits MHT Shift notes for completion and accuracy
Assists nursing staff during medication pass times
Documents shift notes, safety rounds, and patient belongings inventory in the EMR
Performs duties for discharge including gathering all patients belongings
Monitor patient during 1:1, Q5s, Q15s, and 'line of sight' orders
Accurately complete discharge checklist and forms as directed
Maintains HIPAA compliance
Ensures OSHA and employee illness or injury procedures are followed
Ensures compliance with patient care quality standards and regulatory laws
Follows work place injury procedures
Looks for performance opportunities and ensures PI activities are ongoing
Reports patient concerns to proper leadership and ensures appropriate follow up
Activates the Emergency Management Plan when conditions require
Reports unsafe conditions to Leadership
Performs appropriate hand hygiene throughout the shift
Perform patient room searches and surveillance rounds in timely manner
Uses personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately
