Medical Assistant Performs direct patient care under the supervision of a physician or appropriate clinician. Performs related clerical duties supporting operational needs. Responsibilities include: Preparing treatment rooms for patient examinations, ensuring cleanliness and availability of appropriate equipment and supplies. Interviewing patient to obtain medical information and perform measurement and screening procedures. Preparing patient for examination and treatment. Obtaining patient's height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, head circumference, and other required vital statistics. Recording findings in patient medical record and informing clinician of findings. Obtaining specimens from patient, as directed by clinician. Collecting blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens. Completing requisitions, labeling and routing specimens according to established procedures. Performing electrocardiograms (EKGs), as required. Assisting clinician during examination, procedures and treatment, as required. Securing required supplies, tools and equipment for specific procedures. Ensuring patient is appropriately draped and positioned. Providing requested instruments to clinician during procedure. Assisting in positioning and holding patient, as required. Assisting patient after examination, procedure or treatment. Preparing, sterilizing and calibrating equipment. Informing Supervisor of malfunctioning equipment. Strictly adhering to infection control standards in the performance of duties. Performing related clerical duties supporting operational needs. Participating in patient registration, as required. Processing insurance forms, certifications, physician orders, prescriptions, etc. Ensuring required patient information and documentation is available in medical records. Scheduling and confirming patient appointments. Placing, receiving and directing phone calls. Filing, copying, and distributing documentation, as required. Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Successful completion of a six (6) month to one (1) year course in Medical Assisting at an accredited school OR 1- 3 years of medical assistant experience, required. The salary range for this position is $22-$25/hour.
