Marketing Associate and Customer Service Representative ( UPDATE)

This position supports sales and marketing efforts by providing a variety of services, solutions, and support to the publications team, existing customers, and member services. Responsibilities include marketing, processing book orders, shipping, invoicing, and purchase orders. The Marketing Associate ensures timely and satisfactory order fulfillment for APHA Press and the Publications Services Unit, and also manages marketing initiatives for APHA Press and the publications department. Key duties include: Performing marketing functions such as biweekly eblasts, ad placement, and catalog development. Launching new products, from writing copy to deploying marketing plans. Providing professional interaction with customers and distributors via phone and email. Processing, tracking, and completing book orders, including those for distributors like Amazon. Data entry of customer orders, shipments, payments, and tracking. Following up with customers to meet order and service expectations. Working with print-on-demand vendors and fulfillment centers, including uploading orders, tracking, and reporting. Managing databases for orders, invoices, and promotional activities. Collaborating with the Membership Unit for cross-promotional activities. Allocating approximately 70% of time to marketing and 30% to customer service/fulfillment. Performing other duties as assigned. Qualifications include an associate/graduate degree or equivalent experience, 1-3 years in marketing, sales, customer service, and inventory management. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, order processing, and shipping methods (USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL) is required. Skills/Competencies: Highly organized, accurate, personable, empathetic, multitasker, strong communicator, self-motivated, strategic thinker, collaborative, detail-oriented, conflict resolver, excellent phone etiquette, and proficient in data entry. Physical Requirements: Primarily sitting or standing up to 7 hours daily; ability to lift/move 25-55 pounds frequently. Position based in downtown DC with a hybrid work environment.
