Pay: $18/hr Schedule: Monday-Friday 2:00pm-10:30pm
Position Summary: The Material Handler / Water Spider is responsible for the timely and accurate delivery, staging, and replenishment of materials and components to production workstations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring smooth production flow by minimizing downtime due to material shortages. As a "Water Spider," this position requires proactive movement throughout the production area to support operators and maintain lean workflow standards.
Key Responsibilities: Deliver raw materials, components, and supplies to designated workstations according to production schedules.
Monitor inventory levels at the point-of-use and replenish materials as needed.
Remove finished goods, empty containers, and waste from work areas and transport them to designated locations.
Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas following 5S and safety practices.
Use carts, pallet jacks, forklifts, or other equipment to transport materials efficiently.
Communicate effectively with production staff and supervisors to identify material needs or issues.
Perform inventory transactions using warehouse management or ERP systems.
Assist in cycle counting, inventory audits, and material reconciliation.
Follow lean manufacturing and just-in-time (JIT) principles to optimize material flow.
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to logistics and material handling.
Qualifications: 1+ year experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or logistics role.
Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification (if required).
Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and 5S (preferred).
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
Basic computer and data entry skills; experience with ERP or inventory systems is a plus.
Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions: Exposure to a manufacturing or warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
May require wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety shoes, gloves, or eye protection.
