Position Summary:
The Retail Systems Engineering (RSE) team is made up of high performing Engineers and Developers tasked with delivering solutions and tools to the complex Retail Store environment. The Manager - RSE oversees a mix of full-time and contractor resources dedicated to driving positive change in the Retail IT environment. These changes include software upgrades and enhancements, hardware upgrades or changes, integration to/from other non-POS services, and infrastructure operations in the Retail Systems environment.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Retail Systems Engineering, the Manager of Retail Systems Engineering is responsible for ensuring best practices, supervising resources, and promoting external partnerships. The Manager of RSE also provides subject matter expertise and overseeing technology deliverables.
Responsibilities:
Supervising IT Staff - managing, mentoring, and developing RSE personnel. Identifying and resolving conflicts within RSE environment.
Project Health - Monitor tracking tools (JIRA) reinforcing compliancy, identifying timeline risks and critical defects.
Project Leadership - Knowledge of project details, assess project size and complexity. Enforce Change Management processes and principles for scope change.
Managing Retail Systems infrastructure - Overseeing maintenance and operations of hardware, software, and integration points.
Budget Management - In collaboration with other RSLT members, develop and manage RSE budgets, allocating resources and tracking expenses
Security and compliance - Implementing and maintaining security protocols, policies, and procedures to protect Retail IT systems and data.
Strategic Planning - In collaboration with other RSLT members, developing and implementing IT strategies aligned with business goals.
RSE Asset Management - Ensure proper usage and maintenance of RS assets including but not limited to Dev labs, card decks, and software repositories
Solution forecasting - Staying current with industry trends and vendor roadmaps proactively plan for required updates
Capacity Management - work with RSELT to track workload, identify capacity challenges, and propose resource plans to address as necessary.
Continuous Improvement - Assess, challenge, and improve RSE structure, processes and policies.
Knowledge Redundancy - Foster an environment without single points of failure regarding knowledge of solutions within RSE environment.
Troubleshooting and Support: Providing technical support to internal teams and troubleshooting IT issues
Cross-Functional Team Support: Provide leadership during engagements with other Global Tech teams, Shared Services departments, and vendors to define necessary resources and roles for initiatives involving Retail Systems Engineering
Requirements: Strong leadership and management capabilities
Proven technical resource management skills
Deep technical knowledge of Retail store systems (POS, payments, etc..) systems is preferred
Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
Financial management experience
Excellent listening and interpersonal skills
Strong customer-service orientation
Keen attention to detail with excellent multi-tasking skills
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Background: Bachelor's Degree in the IT field (Computer Science, Business Systems, Computer Engineering for example) and/or 7-10 years equivalent work experience
