American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) Products is dedicated to the success of businesses big and small with the vision to be essential to our customers’ businesses every day. GCS Product Business Operations team sits within the GCS Products organization. The team supports the GCS Products Controls and Risks Governance strategy by performing key processes for controls, issue management, audit, ICT and regulatory exam responses, product enablement and customer experience. We are looking for a Sr. Manager  Controls & Risk Governance to demonstrate their analytical expertise and lead a team with varied strengths of hardworking professionals to build a strong operational environment driven by robust controls & risk governance strategy. How will you make an impact in this role?
Provide strategic risk advice to business process owners when process changes are triggered, or new regulations apply. Actively be involved in change management initiatives to ensure adequate assessment of risks and compliance with existing policies & regulations. Compile best practices and learnings from historical processes changes and product launches and leverage to support risk identification. Implement robust risk identification and mitigation strategies to effectively manage emerging risk themes. Develop a compelling monitoring and testing strategy and collaborates with key teams across the enterprise to implement the required monitoring/testing programs. Serve as a key point of contact to support internal audit requests, regulatory exams through close collaboration with other GCS Product Business Operations team members. Lead root cause analysis efforts, developing a systematic process to identify, analyse, and address the underlying causes of critical gaps & issues to prevent recurrence. Drive proactive risk identification and mitigation through thematic analysis and collaboration with business units, ensuring early detection of emerging risks Facilitate risk awareness and education within business teams to enhance their ability to manage risks effectively. Minimum Qualifications Have 3+ years of experience working in either an operational excellence, control, operations, audit, banking or risk role or other relevant experience Experience working across/with product, risk and compliance functions and have a knowledgeable understanding of the various risks and regulatory obligations of American Express Must be highly organized and professional individual with an ability to demonstrate keen attention to detail, adaptability, flexibility, resourcefulness and efficiency Excellent project management experience, organization, and prioritization skills and a proven ability to manage cross functional, large/complex initiatives Experience working in a highly collaborative, matrixed environment, developing relationships across organizational boundaries and influencing without direct authority Demonstrated leadership skills with proven ability to communicate effectively Preferred Qualifications Drive results and be a team player with a strong collaborative orientation Here, your voice and ideas matter, your work makes an impact, and together, you will help us define the future of American Express.
