Camping Commitment Statement

As a follower of Jesus Christ and a minister of His Gospel, lead from a mastery-level understanding of Young Life's ministry strategy and ensure that all camp staff are supported and equipped in providing excellent camping experiences for individuals to encounter Jesus Christ and know the truth of God's love for them.

Mission & Authority

Through both continued training and direct experience, lead staff and prepare an environment where guests, staff, and volunteers are well cared for by preparing a distraction free environment for kids to encounter Jesus Christ. This is a role that oversees all of the Sites and Facilities Department; staff & development, buildings & equipment, operations, budget and administrative needs for the department.

ESSENTIAL PREREQUISITES FOR ALL STAFF MEMBERS (FROM YOUNG LIFE'S BYLAWS - ARTICLE VII):
"Because of Young Life's exclusive Christian purposes of evangelism and discipleship as set forth in its Articles of Incorporation and in these Bylaws, and to reflect what has always been and will continue to be the position of Young Life, specifically the Christian belief that each and every employee and volunteer of the corporation should minister as a servant of God with the primary responsibility of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ and, as such, is an integral part of the Christian mission and ministry of the corporation, Young Life shall only employ individuals or enlist volunteer leaders who: (a) profess a belief in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord; and (b) subscribe to the statements and policies required of all Young Life staff, including the Young Life Statement of Faith. Job Specific Working Conditions:

This a unique role in that it is a split role working in retail and housekeeping. This position will help lead year-long interns, volunteers, and facilitate turnover days. The role will be a 70/30 split between housekeeping and retail during the school season months. Our team splits in the summer to better lead each department's volunteer help. Either this role would be full time housekeeping or a 75/25 split favoring retail during the 2 months of summer. The retail manager would ultimately make this decision.

- Support a culture that pushes for growth, laughter, excellence, and belonging.
- Support and execute efficient systems that prepare spaces for guests.
- Execute laundry systems to serve guests in-between and during camp groups.
- Develop and equip retail & housekeeping interns and volunteers to participate in comprehensive stewardship of retail & housekeeping spaces.
- Develop understating for equipment maintenance and operation as needed for both the retail and housekeeping departments.
- Demonstrate ability to manage many tasks that are happening simultaneously while executing time management skills effectively.
- Demonstrate proficiency of camp cleaning policies and procedures for school and summer seasons.
- Desire to grow and learn in roles of leadership for both retail and housekeeping
- Demonstrate a flexible spirit and attitude around day to day operations as responsibilities will shift with the needs of the group and the departments.
- Assist the housekeeping/retail supervisor in the leading of Turnover with Interns and other camp staff.
- Demonstrate an ability to be detail oriented in areas of housekeeping and excellence in cleaning standards.

Pay Range Position: $2,850 - $3,159 per month (**housing stipend available when applicable)

About Lost Canyon:

Young Life's Lost Canyon operates year-round with significant guest group usage from May - October, and steadily with weekend groups throughout the school season. Camp is located in Williams, Arizona, a small town that sits at about 7,000 feet elevation about 3 hours north of Phoenix, and about 35 minutes west of Flagstaff. Lost Canyon is a welcoming community with the majority of staff living off camp in the surrounding town. Northern Arizona is a spectacular place to live, with the Grand Canyon and Mt. Humphrey's about an hour away, along with many other outdoor recreation areas within a few hours.

Notes:

Young Life is a relational ministry. Staff must be able to convey a sense of Christ-like hospitality and concern for guests and staff. Responding to the unexpected needs of a guest in a prompt and professional manner is important. All staff members are expected to represent Young Life positively and professionally within the community and be able to work with and minister to the volunteer high school and college-age young people who attend our camp.
