LEGAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (San Diego)

SUMMARY: Performs a variety of secretarial duties for attorney(s) to whom assigned according to established policies and procedures. Maintains positive contact with clients, attorneys and staff and observes confidentiality of client matters. The successful candidate will have experience supporting a hybrid Litigation/Corporate desk.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (LITIGATION)
Handles Federal, State, Appeals and E-Filings.
Prepares discovery and pleading shells and assists with document productions.
Finalizes letters, motions, pleadings and discovery forms.
Opens new matters, requests conflicts of interest checks updates and maintain legal files.
Ensures that calendar deadlines items get to docketing clerk in timely manner.
Processes expense reports, check requests, enter partner billable time and reviews client pre-bills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (CORPORATE)
Drafts correspondence, edit, redline, apply style schemes, proofread documents as requested, including engagement letters, memoranda, audit letters, and other correspondence.
Maintains assigned attorneys’ calendar including scheduling travel, conference calls for attorneys and clients and make appointments when necessary.
Opens new clients and/or matters. Handles clearing various conflicts with other attorneys matters, draft conflict waiver letters as necessary.
Assists billing assistant with month end billing and other billing matters as requested by assigned attorneys.
Prepares and submits travel expense reports and other business related expenses for reimbursement.

San Diego Applicant Salary Benchmark: $60,000-85,000
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Ability to read and write in order to proof and perform minor editing (, punctuation, grammar, spelling) of routine law office correspondence and legal case matters. Must be familiar with Federal, local and E-Filing rules.
Familiarity with File & Serve and other filing platforms a plus.
Familiarity with litigation macros such as CCC Macros a plus.
Ability to proofread typed material for grammatical, typographical or spelling errors.
Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate and follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys and staff to provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact.
Work occasionally requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position; may require irregular hours.
