The Front of House Supervisor is responsible for meeting or exceeding all standards of quality, productivity, and customer service to all residents, prospective residents, and guests in all dining rooms in accordance with property policies and procedures. Additionally, they will be responsible for hiring, evaluating, coordinating, motivating, monitoring performance, scheduling, and supervising the department staff. They will also make recommendations to the Executive Director regarding staff evaluations, merit pay increases, reprimands, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
Responsibilities:
Supervise the service of meals to ensure maximum resident enjoyment of the dining experience and that the services are delivered to residents in a continuous, predictable, and efficient manner.
Assist residents and other servers in all areas of resident meal service (salads, soup, entrees, beverages, desserts, etc.) as necessary.
Ensure the dining room POS system is operating efficiently, accurately, and timely. Troubleshoot any problems that arise and train staff on system use.
Assure compliance with all proper serving techniques/etiquette (e.g., serving from the left, clearing used dishes between courses).
Supervise performance of all cleaning and side work in the dining room and kitchen areas. Establish and post side work assignments for all dining room personnel on all shifts.
Chart and assign dining room sections for wait staff, if needed.
Ensure proper setup of dining room tables and server stations with all utensils, chinaware, glassware, sugars, salt, pepper, creamers, and crackers. Fill beverage machines and prepare coffee, juice, etc., as needed.
Bus tables and return all dishes to the kitchen. Clean tables and chairs after meals and sweep, vacuum, and pick up floor areas as needed. Flip tables by replacing linens, as needed.
Maintain a clean, sanitary, and clutter-free work environment at all times.
Participate in discussions to identify concerns and confirm actions that support residents' independence and comfort.
Engage in resident orientation and develop professional relationships through conversation. Be involved in resident transitions during meal times to promote engagement.
Assist with planning food items for activities, marketing, and special events, as requested.
Qualifications:
Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
High school diploma or equivalent required; college courses in food service/management preferred.
Prefer at least one (1) year of experience in a restaurant or similar environment.
Prefer supervisory experience managing employees.
Able to operate household equipment safely (dishwasher, iron, vacuum, washer, dryer).
Proficient in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.).
Knowledge of assisted living and dementia care theories and practices is a plus.
Patience and ability to work with seniors and cognitively impaired individuals.
Flexible, adaptable, decision-making skills, and ability to prioritize tasks.
Problem-solving skills.
Ability to obtain and maintain valid first aid and Food Handlers certifications, as needed.
Successful passing of criminal background check and health screenings, including COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours of start date.
