MANDATORY TRAINING
The Laboratory Project Coordinator is responsible for completing all DOH-mandated training that applies to DOH policies.
Description of Duties
This position is under the direct supervision of a Division Director. The AR Laboratory Project Coordinator communicates and collaborates regularly with the Division Director, other lab directors, supervisors, and laboratory team members. The AR Laboratory Project Coordinator shall provide updates to the Division Director.
The Lab Coordinator's specific duties are as follows:
* The AR Laboratory Project Coordinator will function as a liaison between the PA DOH Bureau of Laboratories (BOL), PA DOH Bureau of Epidemiology (EPI), and its regional public health partners and client healthcare facilities. Conducts outreach to build relationships with local and clinical laboratories and fosters relationships with other departments within the Commonwealth of PA, wastewater treatment plants, and vendors, as appropriate.
* Create an efficient process for improved submission, coordinate sample submission, and facilitate communication.
* Responsible for establishing and maintaining regular communications between the BOL and its internal and external partners and clients, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
* Assist in the development and implementation of plans for specific lab-related public health programs.
* Perform outreach & education and conduct seminars and meetings. They will coordinate training for laboratorians to perform new testing methods. Educates health care providers on specimen submission procedures and reporting protocols.
* Review data and submit regular reports to CDC and other public health entities summarizing key findings about emerging or changing trends, key resistance mechanisms, and outbreak response investigations. These duties include activities to promote, protect, and preserve the health and well-being of the people of Pennsylvania from communicable/ infectious disease in conjunction with the CDC's federally funded public health initiatives.
* Monitor drug susceptibility testing results and communicate resistance to the appropriate authority for the control, prevention, and surveillance.
* Review laboratory data, ensures timely reporting and submits reports to CDC and other public health entities.
* Solicit laboratory specimen submissions from our clinical partners. Also provides education on the specimen collection and submission procedures.
* Conduct outreach to obtain clinical remnant specimens or other suitable specimens from clinical partners and/or regional AR Laboratory Network (ARLN) laboratories for use in verification/validation studies performed at BOL.
* Create and manage project timelines using input from laboratory supervisors and laboratorians to maintain adherence to schedule for successful implementation of assays in a timely manner.
* Serve as a back-up for data entry or release of results in PA Laboratory Information Management System (PA LIMS) and will assist with submission of data to RedCap, as required.
* Assist with the analysis and presentation of lab data including written and oral summaries of project findings for local, regional, and national partners and other audiences, including scientific audiences.
* Assist in providing grant workplan writing, budget, performance metrics, and progress updates.
