JOB TITLE: Lab Technician
DEPARTMENT: Technology
REPORTS TO: Regional Technical Manager
SUMMARY: Provides technical skills in performing and analyzing various samples, and in procedures used in the testing support for our sales team and DK customers. Samples being tested and analyzed can include produced water, crude oil, gas bombs, solids and deposit materials from oil and gas production. At times there may be sample testing to support our sales and manufacturing efforts for products to our customers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work in a safe and environmentally responsible manner
Follow all tenets of the Responsible Care Management System and the Quality, Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security Policy for Dorf Ketal
Perform requested tests on samples provided by customers, sales and manufacturing
Report test results on a timely basis
Test to ensure all raw materials, intermediates and finish products are within specifications prior to use
Receive in samples from customers, sales and manufacturing including ensuring chain of custody (COC) is accurate and logged into DK LIMS system
Run appropriate laboratory tests as requested by customers, sales and manufacturing
Enter results from laboratory testing into appropriate location or database such as DK LIMS system
Ensure calibrations are done on all lab equipment timely and as needed
Ensure laboratory workspaces are properly maintained, clean and organized
Package and ship samples when necessary to other DK locations or customers
Collaborate with other DK personnel or as directed by lab supervisor on the tests being performed as needed to seek additional information to provide the best results
Report lab data on samples analyzed as requested by lab supervisor, sales or customer
Assist with lab tours during sales and customer visits to DK location
Recommend and implement new and revised testing procedures and SOPs to provide accurate and informative test results
Maintain inventory and records of all necessary supplies and reagents for the laboratory processes and procedures
Support and assist in implementing and maintaining certified management systems ascribed to DK such as ISO 9001. Identify training needs of personnel as required; promote awareness of risks and opportunities associated with their work. Maintain an understanding of the Quality policy and how they personally contribute to meeting DK objectives and goals
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor’s, associate’s degree in chemistry or related science preferred
Experience/Skills:
Two - four years of laboratory experience in a related position or industry may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
Certifications:
DOT and IATA Hazmat Shipping Certification preferred
Physical Requirements:
Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
