This role combines advanced technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, providing guidance, training, and support to mechanics while ensuring compliance with company standards and safety regulations.Key Responsibilities:Leadership & OversightSupervise and direct daily activities of the heavy-duty mechanic team, ensuring work is completed on schedule and to quality standards.Assign repair and maintenance tasks, balancing workloads across team members based on skill and priority.Provide hands-on training, mentorship, and performance feedback to mechanics.Monitor shop workflow and make adjustments to improve efficiency and productivity.Technical & Repair DutiesPerform and oversee inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy-duty vehicles and equipment, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, and electrical systems.Ensure preventive maintenance is completed, such as oil changes, lubrication, and hydraulic system servicing.Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and assist mechanics in developing effective solutions.Safety & ComplianceEnforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations to maintain a safe working environment.Ensure repairs follow manufacturer specifications and industry best practices.Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records, including parts used and labor hours.Collaboration & CommunicationCoordinate with Parts Department and Service Managers to ensure timely availability of materials and tools.Communicate repair timelines, findings, and recommendations to management and customers when required.Act as the primary point of contact for resolving technical escalations from mechanics.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or formal apprenticeship in heavy-duty mechanics preferred.Minimum of 3-5 years experience as a heavy-duty mechanic, with at least 12 years in a leadership or supervisory role, prefered.Strong technical proficiency in diagnosing and repairing heavy-duty vehicles and equipment.Skilled in using diagnostic equipment, technical manuals, and schematics.Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.Strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to safety and quality.
