Health & Safety Senior Specialist
We are hiring a full-time Health & Safety Senior Specialist to our Water Treatment Facility located 40 miles northeast of the Austin, Texas metro area. This is an exciting opportunity to support a culture of safety at EPCOR, where employee well-being, hazard prevention, and regulatory compliance are key to our success. You'll be part of a team dedicated to driving employee engagement, awareness, and ownership of health and safety practices across our facilities.
What you'd be responsible for:
- Promote employee engagement in safety by fostering awareness, understanding, and ownership of health and safety practices.
- Lead initiatives to improve understanding of workplace hazards and safe work procedures through communication, coaching, and on-the-ground support.
- Conduct safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and compliance gaps and support the implementation of corrective and preventive measures.
- Serve as a trusted advisor in accident and incident investigations, identifying root causes and supporting long-term solutions.
- Manage and analyze safety performance data, including injury and incident metrics, to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain and track safety records, compliance documentation, and key performance indicators such as TRIF and LTIF.
- Monitor and interpret OSHA, DOT, and other regulatory requirements to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Develop and deliver safety communications and awareness campaigns that reinforce a strong safety culture.
What's required to be successful:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of full-time experience in a health and safety role; experience in utility operations is a plus.
- CSP, ASP, or OHST certification preferred; other safety certifications are a plus.
- Proven ability to engage employees in safety practices and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Experience leading safety meetings and developing PowerPoint and multi-media safety content.
- Working knowledge and experience with OSHA and DOT compliance programs and regulations.
- Strong understanding of health and safety principles, procedures, and techniques.
- Experience conducting audits, job hazard assessments, and injury and incident investigations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; SharePoint experience is a plus.
- Ability to assess health and safety hazards and recommend appropriate hazard reduction and control measures.
- Basic understanding of industrial hygiene, fire prevention, accident investigation, root cause analysis, ANSI standards, and NFPA requirements.
- Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to present information and respond to inquiries from employees and management at all levels.
- Familiarity with current safety technologies.
