Join our dynamic team! We are looking for a dedicated Full-Time Physical Rehabilitation Specialist to work in our busy Physical Medicine Department at a 326-bed acute care hospital. The department is located at the main campus of Laredo Medical Center in sunny Laredo, Texas, only 150 miles from historic San Antonio. We value flexibility in scheduling, and you will report directly to the Director of Physical Medicine.
Job Summary
The Physical Rehabilitation Specialist is responsible for evaluating, planning, and delivering therapeutic procedures in physical medicine and rehabilitation as prescribed by referring physicians. This role focuses on establishing personalized physical therapy goals, administering treatments, and continuously monitoring patient progress through thorough documentation.
Essential Functions
Conduct comprehensive physical therapy evaluations and create tailored treatment plans.
Provide safe, effective therapy treatments while ensuring accurate documentation of all interventions.
Regularly reassess and modify treatment strategies in response to patient progress and evolving needs.
Document evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and billing information with precision.
Educate patients and families on treatment plans, exercises, and post-care procedures for optimal recovery.
Utilize therapy equipment safely while maintaining a clean and organized environment.
Work collaboratively with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuous, high-quality patient care.
Demonstrate competence and adapt care provisions to diverse patient demographics.
Adhere to facility policies, including safety, infection control, and risk management protocols.
Stay professional and proactive in addressing patient care issues through appropriate channels.
Perform additional duties as necessary.
Qualifications
Required: Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy.
Preferred: Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT).
Required: Registered Physical Therapist in the State of Texas.
Required: BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
Required: 0-2 years of experience in a physical therapy setting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong understanding of physical therapy principles, techniques, and safety measures.
Adept at conducting evaluations and crafting effective treatment strategies.
Proficient in therapy equipment usage and documentation practices.
Excellent communication capabilities for effective collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage time and tasks.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and ethical standards.
Licenses and Certifications
Valid PT - Physical Therapist license in Texas is required.
BCLS - Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire is required.
