Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Department: Emergency Medical Services Location: Seaway Valley to St. Lawrence Health facilities Hours Per Week: Full Time (could regularly work over 40 hours) Schedule: 12-hour variable shifts; weekends and holidays Summary: The EMT is responsible to transport sick and injured patients, both in a 911 and interfacility setting. Provide high quality patient care, assist with quality programs. Responsibilities: Respond to requests for service in both a 911 and interfacility setting Operate SLH EMS vehicles safely Assist with packaging and transport of patients Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections Assist with readiness of EMS operations Provide patient care to NYS protocols Operate stretchers, wheelchairs, and other patient transportation devices OSHA Category I: High risk of exposure to blood/body fluids in the day to day job duties. Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent AHA/BLS for Healthcare provider Valid NYS Basic EMT Valid NYS Driver's License Preferred Qualifications: Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) or equivalent Education: Licenses / Certifications: Physical Requirements: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
