Department Overview This position is primarily focused in the Emergency Department, catering to pediatric patients in a Peds Level 2 trauma center. Experience a fast-paced environment while positively impacting children and families. Work Hours: 1:30 PM to 11:30 PM, 4 days a week, with flexible options available to maintain a work-life balance. As a Child Life Specialist, you will: Develop, coordinate, and implement developmentally appropriate play activities and expressive arts for pediatric patients. Serve as an advocate for children, collaborating with the healthcare team to determine therapeutic interventions. Utilize your expertise in child development and the effects of stress to provide interventions that alleviate distress. Promote family-centered care, helping to strengthen coping and resilience skills within the healthcare setting. Provide oversight for volunteer utilization in the Child Life department and monitor ongoing assessments of interventions. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, Human Development, or a related field is required. Completion of a Child Life internship is mandatory before hire. A minimum of two years experience working with children of various age groups is preferred, particularly in therapeutic settings. Certification as a Child Life Specialist (CCLS) is required or must be obtained within one year of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within six months of hire.
