HCA Solutions is seeking a qualified Dental Assistant at USP/LEC Lewisburg located in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania!
This is a full-time, W-2 position for long-term placement.
These services will be required five (5) days per week, normally consisting of eight (8), one (1) hour sessions per day, Monday through Friday (except Federal holidays), normally between the hours of 6:00 am and 4:00 pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch period.
The Dental Assistant shall be responsible for, but are not limited to:
The Dental Assistant(s) will perform chair-side dental assistance in the following dental disciplines: operative, prosthetics, endodontic, periodontics, radiology, and oral surgery. Sterilization and disinfection techniques of instruments will be required, as well as, administrative functions, such as, filing, scheduling appointments, and inventorying supplies. Services will be provided in the method as considered normal in the local community. These services will be unsupervised by the Government, but will be monitored by the COR.
The Dental Assistant(s) shall be very familiar with fourhanded dentistry with respect to all technical methods and procedures as practiced at this institution. He/she must also have an excellent working knowledge of instruments, types of restorative materials and methods used for the purpose of making impressions. The Dental Assistant(s) must have knowledge of oral and dental anatomy and must be able to chart the intra-oral findings. In addition to the above, the Dental Assistant(s) will be required to assist the staff Dentist with oral surgery, operative procedures, prosthetics, radiology, endodontic, preventive, and clerical duties. The duties of this position will require frequent and direct contact with individuals in confinement and who have been convicted of offenses against the criminal laws of the United States.
The Dental Assistant(s) will work with the Dental Officer(s) or his/her designee. Dentistry work is generally made on a daily basis or as the procedure or patient's need(s) dictate. Many other assignments are stated in general terms, which require a high level of understanding and initiative to complete the assignment. The Dental Assistant(s) will be required to use his/her training and practical experience, the Dentist's preferred methods, and current journals or manuals to establish the guidelines by which his/her duties can be accomplished. The Dental Assistant(s) will be required to perform a wide range of intra and extra-oral procedures.
Those procedures require a broad knowledge of dental anatomy and require a wide variety of accepted techniques and manual dexterity to accomplish. Any records maintained by the Contractor or contract workers will remain the property of the institution
Listed below are the main subject areas associated with each contract Dental Assistant position:
ORAL SURGERY - The Contractor shall evaluate the procedure to be performed. Prepare anesthetic, appropriate instruments with sterile technique and drapes, evacuate surgical field, retract tissue, irrigate bone structure during rotary instrumentation, remove sutures, apply appropriate medicaments as prescribed by the Dentist, and give post-surgical instructions.
OPERATIVE PROCEDURES - The Contractor shall prepare operative environment, anesthetics and instruments utilizing sterile technique. Maintain dry operative field, retract tissue, place bases, liners and retainers with matrices. Place pack and carve sedative restorations. Polish amalgam restorations.
PROSTHETICS - The Contractor shall select appropriate trays and impression materials, make preliminary impressions for study models, fabricate custom trays. Pour models and minor denture repairs.
RADIOLOGY - The Contractor shall take and develop intra-oral and extra-oral radiographs, including bitewings, periapical and panorex films.
ENDODONTICS - The Contractor shall place rubber dam, prepare sterile field for procedure, remove temporary filling with rotary slow speed instrument, irrigate canals and prepare appropriate medicaments and instruments.
PREVENTIVE - The Contractor shall provide instruction on oral hygiene care. Apply fluoride and desensitizing agents.
CLERICAL DUTIES - The Contractor shall be required to perform minor clerical duties, such as filing, typing, callouts, institutional memorandums, answering phones, scheduling patients, maintaining stock records, and other general duties recognized as routine in a dental clinic.
Education and Experience:
Dental Assistant services under this contract award must have graduated from an accredited school or program; have training in dental radiology and radiology safety; possess additional education in Dental issues.
Be certified in CPR in accordance with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
Have a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Radiology Dental Assistant and one (1) year work experience involving dental radiology; and have 18 months of work experience as a Dental Assistant or Dental Hygienist with six months current work experience in a clinical setting.
All personnel performing services under this contractual agreement shall have the ability to read, understand, fluently speak, and legibly write the English language.
Bilingual oral communication skills in Spanish are preferred, along with correctional experience being desirable, but they are not required.
