This position is a 9-month temporary assignment. The position will be responsible for actively preparing, cooking, and serving food in a high-volume food service operation. The role will also be required to train and guide new employees and act as a station culinary leader to student team members. Overall job duties include performing a variety of unsupervised supportive food production work and training to include, but not limited to: preparing and cooking food, serving food, operating all food service equipment such as deep fryers, char/steam grills, steamers, ovens, slicers, grinders, etc., ensuring quality, cleanliness, and safety standards and modeling excellent customer service. The position will act in a professional culinary leader role at all times and act as a role model to fellow employees.

What Youll Do:
As a Culinary Student Aide, your responsibilities may include:
Assist in the daily operations of the dining center, helping to monitor team compliance and ensuring service runs smoothly
Work closely with classified staff and student supervisors to meet prep and service schedules
Execute a variety of cooking methods: chopping, measuring, roasting, frying, grilling, steaming, etc.
Assist with food production from daily menus using standardized recipes and techniques
Follow portioning and storage practices for prepared food
Record and monitor temperature checks (HACCP compliance)
Clean and sanitize workstations, kitchen equipment, and service areas
Rotate through the dish room and waste disposal duties as assigned
Practice proper hygiene and safety procedures at all times Uniform Requirements:
Green CSU Dining Services t-shirt will be issued by the employer to be worn on every shift. Aprons and nametags are to be worn. Solid color pants are to be worn at all working times. Long hair must be pulled back away from the face and off the shoulders by an approved hair restraint (hairnet, employer-issued baseball hats). If the employee wishes to keep a beard, a hairnet must be worn at all times. It is the responsibility of the employee to keep the uniform in a clean, acceptable appearance.
