Buffalo, NY | Full-Time Hearts for the Homeless® is seeking a Cook & Outreach Assistant (COA) to support our mission of serving the community with dignity and care. This role centers on coordinating volunteers, managing food donations, and leading outreach programs, with large-batch meal preparation as a vital part of the work. The COA will organize and direct volunteer teams, represent Hearts during mobile food pantry services and community events, and ensure food donations are managed effectively. Using available ingredients, the COA will plan menus and prepare meals in large quantities to support outreach efforts. This position requires strong communication skills, flexibility, and a commitment to service. Qualifications Experience in outreach, community service, or volunteer coordination. Leadership or ministry involvement background. ServSafe certification (strongly preferred). 1–3 years of demonstrated experience preparing nutritious meals in large batches (hundreds of servings) in settings such as community kitchens, cafeterias, banquets, or catering. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Reliable transportation. This is more than a kitchen role, it’s an opportunity to lead, serve, and bring compassion directly to those in need.
