The Class A Diesel Mechanic Technician is responsible for repairing, maintaining, and overhauling all company fleet diesel equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards for a safe operational environment. Primary Responsibilities: The Class A Diesel Mechanic Technician diagnoses and repairs medium to heavy-duty trucks, trailers, reefer units, converter dollies, and maintenance vehicles with minimal supervision. Key responsibilities include: Completing overhauls and rebuilds of heavy-duty diesel engines and transmissions. Performing preventative maintenance on minor repairs and standard component inspections of fleet diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, refrigeration units), identifying root causes of failures and executing necessary repairs. Inspecting brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other crucial components to ensure proper operating conditions, which may require part replacements. Verifying that equipment has the necessary licensing and registration before declaring it as roadworthy. Documenting all work orders of repairs and preventative maintenance using our online Enterprise Asset Management system. Installing, replacing, and repairing onboard computer systems. Conducting routine maintenance, including oil changes, battery checks, and equipment lubrication using various hand and power tools. Training and guiding other mechanics in their duties. Executing other related tasks as assigned. Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent is required. 5 - 7 years of proven experience in medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair, including PMs, tire & wheel, air & air disc brakes, diagnostics, computerized diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronic component repair, and at least 2 years in refrigeration and/or heavy-duty diesel engine and transmission overhauls and rebuilds.
