General Summary
Certified Pharmacy Technician II assists with preparation and distribution of medications. The Certified Pharmacy Technician II position requires specialized pharmacy education, training, and subsequent certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or comparable entity. Certified Pharmacy Technician II employees have advanced skills and experience, and they are generally considered experts regarding technician duties and department operations. The Pharmacy Technician II role is eligible for advanced technician positions based upon job performance and successful completion of requirements for advancement established in the Pharmacy Technician Career Ladder criteria grids.
Essential Functions:
Pursuant to the needs and offerings of the hiring department, essential job accountabilities may include the following:
Receives and stocks deliveries of pharmaceuticals and other supplies.
Prepares, packages, and labels medications prior to dispensing.
Delivers medications to care areas within the hospital.
Delivers medications to off-site locations.
Manages pharmacy inventory management, including use of electronic inventory management systems.
Monitors product expirations and removes outdated stock from inventory.
Responds to product recalls.
Compounds non-sterile and sterile medication preparations.
Cleans and disinfects procedures.
Performs clerical duties such as answering telephones and maintaining adequate supplies.
Identifies at least one area of specialized skill or expertise.
Trains/mentors new pharmacy technicians and pharmacy interns.
Participates as a member of a pharmacy or hospital committee.
Troubleshoots pharmacy equipment malfunctions.
Identifies opportunities for improvement and implements countermeasures related to quality, safety, workflow.
Maintains sufficient additional criteria as outlined in the Pharmacy Technician Career Ladder criteria grids.

Qualifications
Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or GED Required
Work Experience:
2 years Pharmacy experience. Required
Licenses:
Certified Pharmacy Technician Upon Hire Required or
Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician Upon Hire Required
