This role is crucial for ensuring efficient and safe transportation of goods between various transportation hubs, utilizing intermodal methods that combine different modes of transport. Operate a tractor-trailer or container in intermodal operations, transporting goods between rail, ships, and road. Safely load and unload cargo, ensuring secure transport of goods. Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to road safety and cargo transport. Communicate and coordinate regularly with dispatch and logistics managers to ensure efficient route and schedule adherence. Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks and report any mechanical issues or concerns. Log hours of service and vehicle inspections in compliance with DOT regulations and company policies. Enhance sustainability efforts by optimizing fuel usage and engaging in best practices for energy efficiency. Proficiency in operating Class A commercial vehicles, including those with air brakes. Excellent time management and navigation skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to perform physical activities such as lifting, pulling, and managing heavy material.
