POSITION SUMMARY
This role combines responsibilities as both a CDL B Driver and Warehouse Associate to ensure the efficient movement of food and related products. As a Driver , this position will safely and professionally transport goods, ensuring timely pick-ups and deliveries while maintaining assigned fleet vehicles in accordance with cost-effective guidelines. You will also play a key role in maximizing food distribution in alignment with organizational policies and procedures. As a Warehouse Associate , this role will support daily operations by fulfilling orders, managing inventory, and ensuring an organized and efficient warehouse environment. Flexibility is essential, as this position requires the ability to transition seamlessly between driving and warehouse duties based on operational needs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Pick up food and related products at Donors' locations, deliver orders to participating agencies' locations and operate Mobile Market according to assigned schedules.
Act and drive professionally and safely, following all Illinois Highway Department Rules and Guidelines and all Food Bank operating policies and procedures and any other law that may apply.
Conduct safety and maintenance inspection of truck (s), trailer (s) before leaving each day and report any problems to Supervisor.
Maintain assigned vehicles in clean condition.
Provide loading/unloading trucks/trailers as required.
Handle creation and submission of appropriate paperwork as required, including the maintenance of a Driver's Daily Log, Vehicle Trip Reports and any other Reports that be specified by Food Bank management.
Work in refrigerated and frozen environments which includes frequent movement between freezer and refrigerator areas for stocking, organizing, and ensuring food safety standards are met.
Keep food products readily available daily in designated areas.
Pull all Agency Orders accurately and in accord with requested schedules.
Maintain assigned area of Distribution Center in clean and orderly manner.
Assist in loading/unloading trucks/trailers and putting products in appropriate locations.
Required to adhere to all safety protocols and standards established by Northern Illinois Food Bank as outlined by Feeding America and per AIB accreditation. This includes all applicable training.
Perform other related duties and/or responsibilities as assigned or required.
QUALIFICATIONS Possess a valid Class B State of Illinois driver's license with a clean driving record.
DOT Regulated position, a medical card is required.
Subject to random drug screen program
Basic knowledge of truck and warehouse equipment maintenance
Certifiable on powered industrial lift trucks
Able to receive and follow instructions
Ability to read and write and perform simple mathematical calculations (e.g. add, subtract, multiply, divide etc.)
Strong interpersonal skills; able to give instruction and follow-up on progress

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The starting pay range for this position is $17.94/hr - $22.43/hr , based on skills and experience.
This position's working Schedule is Monday through Friday, 4:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the "core" work hours and must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status and retain benefits.
This position is based out of our West Suburban Center (Geneva) location.
