Position: Business Development Manager Retail

Location: Torrance CA

Work Style: Hybrid, or fully remote for highly experienced candidates

Employment Type: Full-time employee or Independent Sales Representative

Salary

Full-time employee: $80K base salary + up to 25% performance-based incentive Sales Representative: 10% commission on PO (purchase orders) for commission-only contracts

Job Summary

We are looking for a results-driven Business Development Manager to lead sales expansion into major U.S. retail chains. Ideal candidates will have strong knowledge of the U.S. retail market and proven success in launching overseas brands.

Main Responsibilities

Identify and pursue new business opportunities with U.S. retail chains Present products and conduct negotiations with buyers and decision-makers Prepare sales forecasts and manage pipelines Report on sales activities and progress Represent the brand at trade shows and industry events Act as the U.S. face of the brand, maintaining strong external presence

Skills & Competencies

Strong sales negotiation and relationship-building skills Deep understanding of the U.S. retail industry Knowledge of premium/lifestyle stationery and gift items is a plus Existing buyer network in the retail sector highly preferred Excellent presentation and communication skills

Qualifications

5+ years of sales experience, preferably in consumer goods, stationery, or retail Direct sales experience with U.S. retail chains (e.g., Walmart, Staples, Office Depot, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Barnes & Noble, etc.) Native-level English skill is required Japanese language skill preferred, but not required
