General Sales Manager

Friendly Honda in Poughkeepsie is looking for a General Sales Manager to join their team. This role is responsible for customer retention and profitability of the sales department which includes: New and Used vehicle sales, and F&I success. Responsibilities include hiring, training, supervising, and monitoring the performance of the new- and used-vehicle department managers. They meet with sales managers to establish annual and monthly objectives for unit sales and gross profits, ensuring that sales managers understand dealership policies, procedures, and sales systems. They work with the general manager to determine appropriate days' supply for new and used vehicles and order/acquire vehicle inventory accordingly. They establish standards for displaying, merchandising, and maintaining new and used vehicles, and procedures for quick disposal of over-aged vehicles. They issue all demonstrators and ensure that appropriate dealership records are maintained. They meet with the general manager to review monthly forecasts, commission sheets, productivity reports, and the profit performance of each department as a whole and each salesperson individually. They address customer complaints to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. They create systems that ensure ongoing sales training, including weekly sales meetings. They make sure the facility is secure, well lit, and professional in appearance. They mentor new and experienced sales reps on standard methodologies for improving performance. They ensure proper follow up of all prospective buyers by developing, implementing, and monitoring a CRM system. They establish delivery procedures and monitor performance and execution, guaranteeing delivery includes an introduction to the service department and scheduling of the first service appointment. They achieve forecasted goals and objectives for dealership and OEM sales, gross, and key expenses on a monthly and annual basis.

Qualifications include a minimum of two years of GSM experience with responsibility for the entire variable operation of a successful dealership. They possess a successful history of building and training a sales team, strong CSI scores, and above average gross and net departmental profits. They have experience in used vehicle purchasing, merchandising, and marketing. They have expertise in supervising the everyday efforts of desk managers and improving F/I income through mentorship and training. A valid driver's license is required.
