Key responsibilities may include:

  • Thoroughly examining customer vehicles to identify potential issues and necessary maintenance services.
  • Utilizing diagnostic tools to accurately pinpoint the cause of vehicle problems.
  • Performing repairs and maintenance tasks including oil changes, tire rotations, brake replacements, engine tune-ups, electrical repairs, and more.
  • Requesting required parts from the parts department to complete repairs.
  • Providing accurate labor estimates to the service advisor based on diagnosed issues.
  • Clearly communicating repair details and necessary additional services to the service advisor.
  • Maintaining detailed records of repairs performed, parts used, and customer information.
  • Adhering to manufacturer specifications and quality standards for repairs.
  • Participating in ongoing training to stay updated on new vehicle technology and repair procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of automotive systems, including engines, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, and transmission.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools to identify vehicle problems.
  • Ability to perform a wide range of automotive repairs efficiently and accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with customers and explain repair needs.
  • Meticulous approach to ensure all repairs are completed correctly.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy parts and working in various positions.
  • ASE Certification is often preferred.
