Overview Associate Manager, New Verticals - Retail Strategy & Operations at DoorDash. The New Verticals team is building the future of local commerce by expanding product offerings on the marketplace platform. The role involves leading our retail selection expansion to empower local retail economies and drive a new strategic revenue stream. This position supports key growth initiatives and expands our retail presence in the US across multiple categories.
About The Team The New Verticals team launched in 2020 to provide customers with access to Grocery, Convenience, Alcohol, and Retail delivery through our marketplace. We are hiring a strong operator to lead retail selection expansion and to drive growth for long-term retail strategy.
About The Role As we scale our Retail business, we’re looking to hire an Associate Manager to support strategic growth initiatives and expand our retail presence in the US across multiple categories (pets, beauty, flowers, office supplies, home improvement, and more). You’ll design and own the strategy (which retailer types/geos/categories to pursue), run scrappy tests, and turn wins into scalable playbooks—owning the full funnel from prospecting to onboarding to growth. We operate in a hybrid model and spend a few days a month in person together.
You’re Excited About This Opportunity Because You Will…
Strategize. Map selection whitespace by retailer type, geo, and category to unlock product availability for customers.
Operate. Stand up 0→1 pilots, build dashboards, manage week-over-week KPIs, and turn wins into scalable processes.
Analyze. Build models using Excel and SQL to evaluate expansion opportunities and prioritize bets.
Build. Translate sales cycles and GTM needs into requirements and co-lead product feature development.
Lead, Collaborate and Influence. Work with cross-functional teams and external vendors to unlock partnerships, growth, and quality to scale retail presence nationwide.
We’re Excited About You Because…
You have 4–6+ years of experience in analytical, cross-functional environments (tech, operations, strategy, consulting, banking, or related).
You are an owner who seeks to improve your work and scale learnings through playbooks and SOPs.
You’re entrepreneurial with a bias for action and the ability to build from the ground up.
You’re analytical and comfortable pulling data in SQL and building models in Excel.
You’re comfortable operating at both high level and in the weeds, with the ability to think long-term and inspire a team.
You thrive in ambiguity, enjoy rapid change, and are creative and scrappy in a startup environment.
You have a completed Bachelor’s Degree.
