Title: Assistant Store Manager Pay Grade: Non-Exempt Major Department: Management Minor Department: Management Reports to: General Manager Essential Job Responsibilities Perform the duties of the General Manager in his/her absence. Knowledgeable with the various department functions. Work with designated Department Managers to coach and assist in training the store staff to learn and understand the nuances of the various products and processes required. Responsible for the monitoring and review of staff job results and store needs with GM. Act as a role model and exemplify Petes Four Pillars of Value, Aesthetic, Quality, and Customer Service. Leading by being the example of dependability, preparedness and work pace. Effective in communicating, delegating and motivating staff. Achieves results through teamwork, coaches and develops others. Assists General Manager with proper training and supervision of new and existing staff that will warrant the correct ordering, receiving, unloading, storage, and rotation of merchandise and building of displays. Coordinates and communicates with corporate support teams, such as Buyers and Pricing, GM and Department Managers for proper and efficient store function. Monitors training emphasizing correct receiving, purchasing and inventory supply, POS procedures and exceptional customer service. Supports, upholds, and enforces all Company policies, and local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Assists in the communication with the GM for management of labor and scheduling to minimize labor expenses, while ensuring adequate store staffing in accordance with the needs of the business. Monitors and recognizes the cause of shrink and works effectively to control losses and help to increase profits. Communicates with Scan Coordinator, DMs and teams to ensure that the correct pricing is maintained and that all shelf tags reflect proper merchandise information and prices. Maintains high standards of store image ensuring that the store is clean, well-stocked, and ready for business. Strives to increase sales through suggestive selling skills/techniques and to consistently improve customer service. Ensures information flows to all team members and advises management of significant events affecting the store. Supervises and coaches direct reports in the performance of their duties; participates in performance reviews and provides feedback. Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation. Education and Certifications 2-4 years retail management experience. Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred. Proficient computer skills. Possesses a current Sanitation License for City and State. Must have excellent communication skills in order to communicate effectively with customers, store leadership, and fellow team members. Capable of providing and modeling exceptional customer service. Work Environment Requirements/ Physical Demands Must have the physical ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend, climb, balance, stoop to grasp objects, kneel, crouch, crawl, frequently push/pull up to 100 lbs., frequently lift and/or move loads up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift 75 lbs. Ability to enter the coolers and freezers thereby being subjected to and withstanding frequent temperature changes for extended periods of time. Occasional high stress when dealing with systems/customers/staff. Able to work a flexible schedule with various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as determined by the store/business needs and as required to ensure adequate store staffing. Must have reliable source of transportation. The ability to be reached during/after work hours.
