Assistant Store Manager
Sofo’s Italian Market, a Toledo, Ohio cornerstone for over 65 years, has an opening for an Assistant Store Manager. We are seeking an individual with extensive retail specialty foods management experience. This position will assist the Store Manager in day to day activities of the entire store operation of bakery, deli, meats, cheese, produce and wine departments with 50 plus team members.
What You Will Be Doing
- Lead by example to ensure our customers have the best shopping experience possible.
- In the absence of the Store Manager assume responsibilities of that position – seeking assistance as needed.
- Create and manage team schedules to align with customer shopping needs.
- Assist with team member training to provide excellent service in a safe and secure manner.
- Continually coach team members to ensure optimal operations, development and retention.
- Assist in managing store inventories and loss prevention.
- Ensure team members are adhering to policies, procedures and safety protocols.
- Partner with store manager to enhance teamwork and engagement.
- Along with the store manager ensure department adherence to all safety requirements and protocols including food safety.
- Maintain working knowledge of processes and solutions for Store emergencies
- Display of merchandise to maximize purchasing appeal.
- Plan attractive displays and ensure that sufficient merchandise is ordered to stock displays.
- Maintain a high level of product knowledge and communicate with the team as needed.
- Organize sales and product demonstrations.
- Interact with customers and resolve complaints or grievances.
- Demonstrate personal integrity when faced with stress, pressure and difficult situations.
- Oversee grocery back stock areas.
- Ensure proper receiving by staff according to established procedures.
- Ensure shelves/coolers are fully stocked and rotated to ensure freshness and turnover.
Who You Are
- Excellent communication and customer skills.
- Ability to effectively multi-task, including organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
- Basic computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets and email programs).
- Ability to lift throughout shift as needed up to 50 lbs.
- 3 - 5 years’ experience managing in a grocery/specialty store setting – perishable, hospitality.
- Passion for managing a team to provide exceptional service to our customers.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree – preferred.
- Serv Safe Level II and First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet hours of operation which will include weekends, days, evenings and some holidays.
- A passion and love of the Sofo’s products and services.
