At Goodwill of Central Texas, our Assistant Managers are not just support staff—they are key leaders who help drive the success of our retail stores and our mission to transform lives through the power of work.As an Assistant Manager, you’ll work hand-in-hand with the Retail General Manager to oversee all daily store operations—from ensuring the sales floor is inviting and well-stocked to maintaining smooth donation flow, keeping team morale high, and ensuring customers leave with a smile. When the RGM is away, you’ll confidently take the lead to ensure everything runs like clockwork.What You’ll Do Partner with the Retail General Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of store operations.
Handle essential administrative tasks—cash handling, supply ordering, and store opening/closing procedures.
Maintain flexibility in your schedule to support opening, production, and closing shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Supervise, train, and motivate team members, including setting work schedules and ensuring coverage for production and retail operations.
Jump in where needed—greeting donors, unloading donations safely, sorting items, keeping the sales floor tidy, assisting customers, and handling transactions.
Foster an atmosphere of exceptional customer service, both internally and externally.
Monitor donation processing to ensure efficiency, safety, and compliance with security standards.
Oversee accurate sales transactions and ensure all policies and procedures are followed.
Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new associates while managing payroll within budget.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment for employees and customers.
Work collaboratively with other divisions and stores to meet business and mission goals.
Resolve customer concerns with professionalism and care.
Who You’ll SuperviseSupervisors, Donation Attendants, Processors, and Sales Associates.What You Bring to the Table High School Diploma or equivalent; retail management experience strongly preferred.
2+ years of progressive retail leadership experience, with responsibility for multiple departments or teams.
5+ years in retail or a related industry with strong operational knowledge.
Proven ability to train, coach, and develop staff.
Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
Solid knowledge of the thrift/resale industry and a customer-first mindset.
Ability to perform the same tasks as your team, including physical requirements (standing, bending, lifting up to 35 lbs.).
Strong computer skills and basic math proficiency.
