This leadership role is vital in coordinating surgical services , ensuring high-quality patient care, and supporting team performance in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. As the Assistant Nurse Manager, you will work closely with the Nurse Manager to plan, organize, and implement perioperative services , while also taking an active role in fiscal oversight, staff development, performance improvement , and regulatory compliance . This role requires strong communication skills, strategic decision-making, and the ability to manage change effectively within a multidisciplinary surgical setting. Youll serve as a clinical and operational leader, helping to build bench strength for nursing leadership and ensuring seamless care delivery across general surgery, orthopedics, robotics, and specialty procedures . Responsibilities: Assists the Nurse Manager in assessment, skill proficiency evaluation, equipment and supply management, patient satisfaction initiatives, staffing, and scheduling. Supports the Nurse Manager in overseeing the unit. Assists with the management of personnel processes, including but not limited to hiring, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions. Participates in the development and implementation of performance improvement plans. Ensures compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations. Effectively communicates information to staff, patients, and other stakeholders. Assists the Nurse Manager in making timely decisions and managing change processes. Collaborates with all departments as part of the management team. Utilizes a personal cell phone for business purposes.
Qualifications: Skills Experience in hospital or acute care setting - Operating Room experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding patients and team members. Ability to manage crisis situations effectively. Proven ability to provide excellent customer service to patients, team members, and visitors. Knowledge and experience with electronic health records. Proficiency in CPR PALS certification (within 6 months of hire). Credentials: Credentials Registered Nurse (RN) license. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. NIH Stroke Certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Education: Education Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Magnet Recognition preferred). OR RN Diploma/RN Graduate Program + Bachelor's Degree in a related field. Active pursuit of a Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) if not already possessing a BSN.
