Summary
The Assistant Security Operations Manager supports the coordination and execution of crime prevention and security operations across Universal Studios Hollywood (USH), including CityWalk, Metal Detection Screening, and the Theme Park. This role assists in ensuring the safety of guests, team members, and property by helping to resolve security concerns promptly and effectively.
Key responsibilities include partnering with contract security teams to uphold USH policies, maintaining communication with local law enforcement agencies, and contributing to quarterly reporting for leadership. The Assistant Manager conducts operational audits, supports the development of situational reports, and ensures accurate incident documentation. They also help oversee perimeter security and monitor Metal Detection budgets to support cost control efforts.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in security or law enforcement, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment. This role requires flexibility in scheduling and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Essential Functions
Lead and coordinate crime prevention operations across CityWalk, Metal Detection Screening, and the Theme Park, ensuring timely resolution of security concerns involving Universal Studios Hollywood (USH).
Partner with contract security teams to ensure consistent service delivery and adherence to USH policies and procedures.
Maintain active liaison with local law enforcement agencies, including the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department; prepare quarterly reports for executive leadership.
Conduct regular audits of security operations to drive efficiency, service quality, and continuous improvement.
Develop operational and situational reports to support strategic deployment and risk mitigation planning.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of incidents using company systems.
Oversee perimeter security operations for USH.
Monitor and analyze weekly Metal Detection budgets to maintain cost control.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications/Requirements
Minimum of 7 years of experience in security management, law enforcement, or a related field.
Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organization.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and special events.
Demonstrated discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and traveling between venues.
Must be authorized to work in the United States and willing to undergo a background check.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of California state laws and law enforcement protocols.
Experience with security technologies, including alarm monitoring, physical security, and weapons detection systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Possession of a valid BSIS Guard Card and Exposed Firearm Permit.
Carry Concealed Weapon (CCW) Permit preferred.
Familiarity with social media platforms for investigative purposes.
Experience with metal detection and x-ray screening procedure
