Description Summary/Objective The Assistant Food Service Manager supports the Restaurant Manager in maintaining operational excellence and ensuring that all team members adhere to company standards. This role involves organizing food preparation processes, controlling inventory, and optimizing costs to prevent spoilage. Responsibilities Deliver professional, courteous, and prompt service to all guests. Engage in various roles within the restaurant (food prep, expediter, etc.) as needed. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in all areas of the restaurant, including restrooms and dining areas. Manage inventory levels and order supplies according to company policies. Oversee proper receiving, storage, and rotation of all food items following company procedures. Schedule employee shifts based on busy periods to enhance service efficiency. Train staff in food preparation and safety protocols. Assist with shift coverage during employee absences. Ensure adherence to company recipes and portion control. Enforce food safety regulations consistently across all operations. Process customer transactions accurately, including compliance with age restrictions for specific products. Identify and rectify any inventory discrepancies or issues. Create employee schedules to balance labor costs and operational needs. Complete necessary documentation for profit and loss evaluation accurately and timely. Handle personnel-related forms and issues as they arise. Propose enhancements to service efficiency and productivity, as well as opportunities for cost reduction and sales growth. Foster a team-oriented environment to address challenges and resolve departmental conflicts. Exhibit exemplary work ethics and professional conduct. Safeguard sensitive information with professionalism and tact. Maintain an organized and tidy workspace continuously. Restock and manage inventory levels throughout the restaurant as necessary. Adapt to working conditions inside or outside in varying weather. Mentor and develop colleagues for advancement opportunities. Complete errands as needed, such as grocery pickups. Consistently comply with all company policies. Act as the Person in Charge in the absence of the manager. Additional Responsibilities for VGT Stores Monitor the VGT area constantly and ensure proper age verification for patrons appearing under 27. Refer to the VGT binder for a complete list of specific responsibilities. Essential Functions Effectively use technology including PCs and mobile devices. Communicate clearly in English, including talking, hearing, reading, and writing. Perform various station duties within the kitchen. Complete all housekeeping tasks, including cleaning and sanitizing work areas. Punctually fulfill scheduled work hours. Thrive in a fast-paced work environment and multitask efficiently. Possess a positive attitude, high energy, and customer service aptitude. Collaborate effectively with team members. Understand and apply company policies and practices. Hold a valid driver’s license, insurance, and have access to reliable transportation for travel to different locations. Physical Demands Ability to stand for long periods. Frequent mobility including walking, bending, and reaching. Capability to lift or move up to 30 lbs. Comfortable retrieving items from refrigerators or freezers. Tolerate exposure to cleaning materials and maintain safety equipment. Must wear required personal protective gear (gloves, apron, etc.). Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Minimum of 45 hours per week on a rotating schedule based on business needs, including weekends and holidays. Qualifications Required Minimum age of 18 years. Basic accounting proficiency. Must obtain Serve Safe certification. May require RAMP certification for beer/wine locations. Occupational licenses may be necessary for VGT locations. Preferred Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Six months' experience at Rutter's or equivalent experience. Prior experience in food service or related fields. Previous management or leadership experience is a plus.
