Summary: Performs a variety of hospital food service duties to prepare, cook, plate, and/or serve food in bulk or individual portions for patients, and other customers. Follows standard practices and regularly scheduled hours.

Minimum Education: Culinary degree

Minimum Work Experience: a. One (1) Year of cooking and food preparation experience b. Proven ability to read and write English, follow written and oral instructions; perform basic mathematical Functions; prioritize tasks c. Maintain Servsafe certification, validation period is maximum of five (5) years.

Required Skills/Knowledge: a. Knowledgeable and compliant to local, state and federal food handling regulations (i.e., HACCP) b. Manual dexterity sufficient to prepare and assemble food c. Ability to withstand hot and/or humid, cold and/or icy temperatures due to heat and cold producing equipment d. Ability to be active and on feet most of the day; lift, push and pull medium weight objects and occasionally push and pull heavy weight objects e. Population-Specific Competency: ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
