Please Note: This position is located at the Queen Anne's County Extension Office in Centreville, MD and is part-time, 32 hours per week (80% FTE). The listed salary will be prorated based on this percentage.
Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
Under general supervision, provides moderately complex administrative support to faculty and staff within the office as well as UME clientele and the general public.
Responsibilities:
Receive and direct incoming telephone calls and greet visitors.
Compile, print, and prepare publications, newsletters, correspondence, etc., and prepare for mailing/electronic distribution.
Follow up on all inquiries about Extension programs by phone, mail, or email and forward information/messages to the appropriate program or colleague.
Maintain print and digital filing system for the office to satisfy requirements for retention and information security.
Maintain UME website and social media platforms including posting photos, videos, information, event reminders, etc. to promote/highlight programs.
Operate office equipment as needed to support office operations. Maintain literature display racks and lobby area.
Facilitate effective office functioning based on emerging programming and university needs. Verify inventory report(s).
Provide broad support based on the needs of faculty and staff, UME, AGNR, and UMD.
Preferences:
Required - High School Diploma or GED
2 years' experience providing administrative support. Applicant may be required to complete a required skills assessment to be considered.
Candidates should have a fundamental service orientation.
General knowledge of and skill in the application of generally accepted office practices and procedures.
Proficient in a variety of computer software packages, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint), Google Suite, Adobe Suite, Eventbrite, Canva, email and calendaring software, and social media platforms.
Ability and willingness to travel and attend meetings outside normal business hours as needed.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to interact effectively with internal and external parties in a courteous and productive manner.
Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple and continuing assignments with general instructions.
Ability to work without supervision and be a team player.
Ability to multi-task. Is detail-oriented and reliable.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to proofread and edit written documents.

Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
