Position Summary:
Marjorie Doyle Rockwell Center in Cohoes has an opening, Part Time Days position for an Activities Assistant, which includes one day each weekend.
The Activities Assistant supports the planning and delivery of recreational and therapeutic programs designed to engage residents, promote well-being, and enhance quality of life. This role requires patience, compassion, and enthusiasm for working with older adults living with memory impairments.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Assist in planning, organizing, and leading daily activities such as music, art, games, exercise, social events, and outings.
Encourage resident participation while adapting activities to individual abilities and interests.
Provide one-on-one engagement with residents who may need additional support.
Help decorate activity areas and create a welcoming, stimulating environment.
Document attendance and resident engagement in programs as required.
Collaborate with the Activities Director and care team to support resident-centered programming.
Uphold the dignity, safety, and respect of all residents.
Driving a 14-passenger bus for community outings. No CDL required.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (required).
Experience working with seniors, preferably in dementia or memory care (preferred, but not required).
Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative when needed.
Creativity, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
Must be able to meet physical demands of the role (standing, lifting up to 25 lbs, assisting residents).

Pay Range:$17.25 - $22.95
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
