A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT (CNA)
As a Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), you arrive for each shift determined to treat each patient or resident with respect and kindness. You do everything you can to preserve their dignity, as you provide the individualized physical, psychological, and social support that they need. Maintaining a clean, neat, and organized work environment is one of your top priorities. Your positive attitude makes a huge impact on the lives of our short-term and long-term patients. Because you spend so much one-on-one time with them, assisting with all activities of daily living such as dressing, grooming, bathing, feeding, toileting, colostomy care, transferring, walking, prosthetic appliances, positioning, and range of motion exercises, you truly become a trusted member of their family.
You keep accurate records as required. You are patient and calm, treating those you care for just the way you would want your own family members treated. You are vigilant about reporting any changes in the condition of residents to the supervising nurse to ensure that all medical needs are properly met. Your attention to detail and accuracy helps ensure the highest quality of care. You assist with specific tasks under the supervision of the nurse such as recording vital signs and weights, applying non-prescription creams/ointments, and collecting specimens. You go home each day tired but feeling good about the positive impact you have made in the lives of the patients and residents in your care.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT (CNA)
Current license to work as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) in the State of Iowa
Ability to perform physical tasks typically performed in CNA work
A love for nursing
Previous CNA experience is preferred, but not required. Are you flexible and always willing to jump in and help where you're needed? Are you conscientious about following policies and procedures correctly? Do you have excellent interpersonal and communication skills? Are you passionate about the rights of all to privacy, dignity, and well-being? If so, then you just might be perfect for this position!
WORK SCHEDULE
This position is Casual/PRN and will work a variety of hours including all shifts. Shifts breakdown as follows: 1st Shift: 6:00 AM- 2:30 PM; 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM 3rd Shift: 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM
